about me

Hi, I’m Paul Monks, founder and owner of Monks Carpentry and Joinery. Let me tell you a bit about myself… I started off learning the ropes in my Dad’s building company, gaining valuable experience from the wide range of projects they handled. As I honed my carpentry skills, I spent some years in the shopfitting industry, both working hands-on and overseeing other trades to meet tight deadlines.

Eventually, I found my passion in restoring and preserving old properties, especially grade 1 and grade 2 listed buildings, where my keen eye for detail could shine. One of my recent accomplishments was the refurbishment of a 500-year-old cottage in Surrey.

Nowadays, I run a workshop in West Sussex where I create custom pieces and cabinets, which I then install in my clients’ homes. Working with solid timber is a joy, with oak and walnut being a couple of my personal favourites.

“Making Your Castle a Home” is my mantra and my client’s satisfaction is the tune!
